This chart shows the global ranking of Radio Free Asia’s target countries in terms of press freedom. The chart is based on an annual index Reporters Without Borders compiles each September which ranks countries based on questionnaires completed by a variety of independent sources.

The rankings illustrate the amount of freedom journalists and news organizations are permitted in each country, as well as the efforts made by each country’s government to protect this freedom. The higher the rank, the more freedom is enjoyed by journalists working in the country.
