Ilham Tohti would never have been imprisoned under a normal government operating under the rule of law, for he never committed or incited violent actions nor did he break any normal law. But under the lawless autocratic rule of China's Communist Party regime, he was held inrison in communicado for several months before even being charged with anything, then put on trial in a secret proceeding where the verdict of life imprisonment was fore-ordained.

I haven't seen any govm't more corrupted and unjust than a Communist one. They have been responsible for more failures and deaths than any other countries - China will see her demise yet! In a 'modern' era, they are still ruling by forces. Guide by principles for once, free the man!
