You can't pull that thin wool to cover our eyes. It may work then but not in this era and especially to us - oversea VNmese or Viet Kieu!

Reply to this commentI'm not sure about the "thugs" beating up people because the article never bothered to verify the other side with police accounts... What I do now, by reading pubic literature, blogs and social media from most "civil society groups" that they openly advocate the overthrow of Vietnam government, distort programs as policy failures even natural disasters such as 100-year floods in central and/or historic drought in Mekong delta...They always portray man-made crisis such as Formosa pollution, traffics congestion, chemicals-laden foodstuffs... as intentional government collaboration with China to harm Vietnamese and in some extreme cases - to hand Vietnam over to this northern aggressor. More significantly, they directly, receive financial funding from overseas Vietnamese and when they said "democracy and human rights progress fought hard to achieve" - they implied the acts of old South Vietnam as though it was a successful and free regime.
Vietnam has come a long way from war destruction to reach the internationally, recognized prosperity and overall improved living conditions... despite decades of Western hostilities, violent armed struggles with remnant overseas Vietnamese who tactically, turn into democracy and human rights activists. Positive criticism is welcome but disguised campaign for social unrest and destabilized rule of laws are not! Not even in their model society America who routinely, imprisons advocates of government overthrow, collaborators with hostile foreign forces!
