Dan Tran from Los Angeles :

The comment from Cathy Sing is ridiculous. If one man could not freely express himself and he ended up in jail, then I would question how Cathy Sing was able to hear the voices of 90 millions Vietnamese. They had to focus on other activities because they too would be put in jail if they raise their voice and seek for democracy. Furthermore, in Vietnamese current election laws, the Fatherland Front, which is controlled by the Vietnamese Communist Party, select the candidates to stand for election. The Vietnamese people have to choose one of the "pre-screened and pre-selected" candidates presented to them. How is that for "democray under the communist rule"? Cathy, please go Vietnam and petition to be a citizen under the communist rule. Then, you will experience first hand how democracy and freedom will work for you.

Ron Deroien from ChoLon :

The best news of the article was hope for more religious freedom and the end of hostility towards religion. It is our first right in America without it the others are an illusion. I may have broken Vietnamese law when I brought my bible with me but my rights go every where I go. May God give strength to those that cry out for the rights of all.

Cathy Sing from Khmer :

By focusing on these dissents, this paper misrepresents the growing and opening of Vietnam as well as voices of over 90 millions Vietnamese: they are too busy upgrading the economy 7.5 times larger, boosting best literacy rate in Asia, graduating 7 millions high school and 2 millions university adults as well as sending 40,000 students overseas.... Vietnam is picking and choosing their form of governance with and without assistance of foreigners instigated agitators.
