Correction: The brief Chinese invasion of 1979 was to punish Vietnam for attacking the Khmer Rouge (whom China supported), not to punish Vietnam for helping the Khmer Rouge. The Chinese were surprised by how quickly they were beaten by the Vietnamese.

chinese punished vietnam for helping the khmer rougs in combodia in 1979 that was the first lesson that the vietnamese recieved from chinese goverment.
