Corrupted VNmese government keeps turning a blind eye to foreign corporations and foreign government while lining their pockets. You have destroyed the future of VN over the last 40 years. Karma can't come soon enough for you.

Reply to this commentShort sight gains will be paid by millions of people for these crimes against the environment. Once the food chain is contaminated, it is only a matter of time that everyone will be affected. Wake up and hold each other accountable for this.

Reply to this commentThis is like the biggest chaos ever. All government agents super desperate for money tramps on and disregard for people lives. They (rulers) were taught to suppress and oppress people from having an opinion in order to feel in control. This is a very bad situation, and sometimes they end up targeting the wrong people who try to help. This situation can never be resolved if the people on the top don't change their mind set which may take generations and generations which set us back even further

Reply to this commentIndustrialization has just begun in Vietnam. Every step toward internalization requires Governments permit which demands bribery. It will follow China that most of bribery money will be transferred invested to US.

Reply to this commentWe step back, look at the issue in a broader angle.
Formosa is a shell company, registered by Taiwanese, but now owned and run by Red chinese. Under the cloak of commercial and industrial projects, Red chinese has occupied all the strategic locations in VN. On a future D day, chinese "worker" will show their AK47, take over the land. Just like Rusians have done with Crimea.
For the meantime, Red chinese is carrying out all sort of programs to weaken and destroy VN. Vietcong gouvernment, on the other hand, is busy to take bribe, selling national property to foreigners.
Only the average VNmese people suffers.
(After the fall of SouthVN in 75, the whole country has sunken under the idiotic rulers from Vietcong.
It is sad for this VNmese race.)

Reply to this commentWhy the Vietnam government has turn a deaf ear to their own people???? Well, the more toxic waste dumping the more bribes the government officials has been receiving. So, go figure! Fishery is the sole income source for the locals, but bribery is main income for the Vietnam government officials.

Reply to this commentFormosa has a record of deadly explosions at their facilities in the US, Being fined and forced to close their plants, for bribing many developing (Cambodia is an example) country's local authority to dump toxic waste with mercury which killed people, was proved to have unsafe and deadly practice.
What regulations or standards did Vietnam come up with as far as community and environment? It would be hard to imagine vietnam has sufficient knowledge and capacity to investigate the facility and all the causes to the mass killed fish. We would. Red to involve international, independent investigative organization.

Reply to this commentThe communist Vietnamese government must be bribed by the Taiwanese to play deaf and dumb. They let chemical waste destroy their natural resource and kill their own people!
Those greedy and stupid Vietnamese high officials should read this:
Water pollution
Pig iron manufacturing
In the conventional process without recirculation, wastewaters, including those from cooling operations, are generated at an average rate of 80 cubic meters per metric ton (m3/t) of steel manufactured. Major pollutants present in untreated wastewaters generated from the pig iron manufacture include total organic carbon typically 100–200 milligrams per liter, mg/l); total suspended solids (7,000 mg/l, 137 kg/t); dissolved solids; cyanide (15 mg/l); fluoride (1,000 mg/l); chemical oxygen demand, or COD (500 mg/l); and zinc (35 mg/l).
Steel manufacturing
Major pollutants in wastewaters generated from steel manufacturing using the BOF include total suspended solids (up to 4,000 mg/l, 1030 kg/t), lead (8 mg/l), chromium (5 mg/l), cadmium (0.4 mg/l), zinc (14 mg/l), fluoride (20 mg/l), and oil and grease.
The process generates effluents with high temperatures.
Solid waste
Process solid waste from the conventional process, including furnace slag and collected dust, is generated at an average rate ranging from 300 kg/t of steel manufactured to 500 kg/t, of which 30 kg may be considered hazardous depending on the concentration of heavy metals present. Approximately, 65% of BOF slag from steel manufacturing can be recycled in various industries such as building materials and, in some cases, mineral wool.
