The land is the only source of income for many farmers. The communists can not push these peaceful farmers to a dead end. The farmers have the rights and obligations to defend what belongs to their ancestors, that feeds their families for generations. All Vietnam population stands behind the farmers. Do not give up.

Reply to this commentDid I mention that I dislike those puked green uniforms!
These goons are so dumb, all the police shields are upside down – there’s ‘magic’ in them if one would hold them correctly…lol! Hence, the reason they’re getting beaten by the farmers! If you can’t read, paint them over with VNmese word.
Our northern bros are getting brazenly brave. It’s about time too. I think this is it – off the reservation and into the deep end! As our countrymen would put it ‘One can’t safely get off a tiger back in the middle of a raging river’. There is a small hope here for the people do have a little trust in those 2 officials, but I truly don’t believe this would add up. The sadistic ruling class will not yield because of their ‘postures’ and they are; if not already; made up their minds – they will earmark this unprecedented case to let the nation knows of their aggressive stances.
I don’t think the captives will be harmed – it isn’t the people styles. However, I know hell is coming to everyone. I believe I, too, just went out of the limb to make this prediction…ugh!
This is Communism at it best. The Party rules and everyone must shoulder their burdens.
But, does it have to be this way? When will the people have a voice and a vote to decide?

Reply to this commentGlad to see the farmers stand up and get the courage to protest over land dispute but I don't like the fact they are forcibly holding officials with possible death threats.
Vietnam really shouldn't own all of its territory, as forced land compensation to make way for lucrative investments is common business and I doubt the major problem would be solved unless democratic regime change occurs.

To Resident from VN:
I totally agree with you. I commented the same verbiage on an earlier article. For thousand years, VN is an agrarian culture. Like their ancestors, these people hold/pass on, work, and respect the lands dearly. I would bet there are ancestral graves on this land.
It’s life. It’s how people come into the world and leave it. They make and mark their stories – their enduring legacies.
It’s the very breath that these people take every morning to reassure that they are belonged and tied to a dearest place – a home. Hence, poems and stories were/are written about the endearing longing once they left the land.
Although the work is extremely hard; they bear their backs to the baked sun with dripping sweats to toil the land with callous hands; but this is their freedom and pride. The extreme joys of independent, support, and provide for their families. Their hearts and minds are with the lands. Thus, there is no price or government should think of buying/taking their lands.
The VNmese overseas are with the people, your struggles are our struggles, your LAND ARE SACRED and it should remain yours so one day you can rest in comfort and peace as your ancestors had done it.
