1/Sounds like they got a bone to pick with the professor! Only sadistic goons can't find the values in good and well educated citizen!
2/This is absurd! No government can strip one citizenship by birth (unless it's treason!). The good professor hasn't done that otherwise he wouldn't serve 3 yrs in prison. Don't these goons have better things to do? They can micro-management an entire country but can't watch over their corrupted party members. Ever wonder about that?

Indirectly, it's a lesson to all Lao foreign passport-holders who were lured back to Laos to purchase flats and condos. Since Laos and Vietnam are both communist countries and politically very close, what happens in Vietnam will also happen in Laos. They steal your money and they kick you out.Neat!
