Kaneko from Hong Kong :

I don't think the Chinese government is particularly concerned about whether or not its people are racists, as long as everyone agrees with the government and behaves themselves, you can be as racist as you want.

Are you stupid or what? China is also a communist country, and don't forget that there are million of Chinese folks are currently living in Vietnam. Imagine how the Chinese folks would feel if the restaurants in Vietnam doing the same. But we are not doing that.. We welcome everyone to our restaurants even dog and the Chinese.

Wales :

All people with a conscience who think it is morally reprehensible to castigate hatefully an entire nationality such as Vietnamese, Japanese, or Filipinos should boycott that restaurant unless and until it is sold to someone with a basic respect for human dignity.

I'm Chinese and I have to say this is the most ... up thing I've ever seen. It paints a very bad picture for those of us who believe in mutual respect between cultures and heritage, not just in Asia but everywhere. The owner of this place has obviously been brainwashed by Chinese politics... and it's quite sad to see such display of extreme ignorance and stupidity.

Extremist nationalists exist in every culture, but I have to say this is the first time I've seen something like this. I have friends who are Vietnamese, Filipino, and Japanese... we never let political situations between the countries get in the way of our friendship, but it still pains me to see this type of stuff displayed in this day and age.

It is shameful that a government tolerates such racism. It goes to show the true dark and ugly color of the Chinese government.

Vietnamese government should standup for its own people and stop being a Chinese puppet government.

It goes to show chinese humility. They don't want to be associated with people of better culture and respect. In their sign they even manifest that dogs are a better breed than they are. Leave them be....

Bully Red :

This is not an isolated incident. It is the long history of china and current communist chinese regime to bully and look down on other countries. Hope they remembered and learnt lessons during WW II and put them in other countries's shoes. What a shame for current china policy.

Le Nguyen :

what is so despicable about this, hopefully just an isolated one, demonstration of xenophobic and hegemonic attitude towards these three countries, is the fact that official chinese government has been conniving, condoning and inciting their citizens in doing so. Mostly, their goal is aimed at uneducated people, via propaganda and misleading informations, the results are always surprisingly reminiscent of Hitler's Germany of the 1940's. Had chinese people have the opportunity to listen, read, study and chews on Liu Xiao Bo's writings, this kind of hatred xenophobia will not proliferate. But...

Wales :

The chauvinistic sign in that Beijing restaurant reflects the ugly and vitriolic ultra-nationalism that the Party-state inculcates in its self-serving propaganda such as the so-called patriotic education component required in the school system since the violent military crackdown on PRC protestors in 1989. The princeling oligarchs that have taken over the Politburo Standing Committee appear to have walked away from the Hu-Wen calls for a harmonious society, which even though hypocritical in the face of police-state tactics against public criticism were at least a gesture toward peace. A much more militant spirit of xenophobia and vindictiveness seems to be the tone set by the new leadership in Beijing as a way of distracting attention from internal problems such as the Bo Xilai scandal.

As a Chinese, I know that this is NOT racism. This is simply a protest against savage Filipinio,Vietnamese, and Japanese imperialism against China.

I wonder how much the CIA paid them to bully China around.

Mr. Nobody :

Please. Don't just view all the things from Chinese view only. This is hardly a "protest" in the eyes of beholders from around the world. Last year when the Japanese government bought Senkaku Islands from its owner, many Chinese citizens in China brutally assaulted any Japanese people they found and laid waste to all Japanese properties. Is this also the way Chinese people "protest"? My God! How can we do to make Chinese people realize that these reactions are called racism and barbaric violence?

This is a way of protest from uneducated people. No need to lose any sleep over it.
