Xinjiang's bingtuan has long been deeply implicated in the PRC's prison camp system. Since the mass incarceration of innocent Uyghurs and other minority Muslim ethnic groups began in 2017, the bingtuan have become even more heavily involved in these grave abuses of basic human rights.
