Some of the comments made here are ridiculous, especially those comments correlating Islam with terrorism. And they are discriminatory, biased and bigoted. According to Christianity and Islam all people have the right to practise their own religion.

Islam does not teach terrorism, in fact if it did and considering the age of the religion, with the number of worshipers, a simple math equation will show you that in this day and age the whole planet would be Muslim. These are facts and history of violence and intolerance continues due to ignorance and arrogance.

Islam by meaning goes back to Adam (Peace Be Upon Him), the first human being.

Have you read the Koran my friend? It is the only religion that has a violent founder, compare him with Jesus, Buddha and any of the Hindu founders and you can understand the violent character of Islam. It has become a major religion only through forcing and threatening people to submit or die.

So it turns out that China has some commonsense then.

I've got a copy of the Quran, its a 'charming' little read. While I do not prescribe to the authority of the state issuing instruction to remove privately owned books of religious teachings from people's homes - I also do not consider Islam to be a religion in the same way that I would consider Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism etc etc as a religion.

That's the price you pay for living in China, I guess. Its about time someone stood up to Islam and the people who worship it, so good for them, at the end of the day for doing this.

Well said! unfortunately we live in a fake dark world and there will never be peace or any sort of middle ground when it comes to any difference in opinion. To your point I believe the Koran has radical teachings which cause destruction in the world.

If this is true, then it is an absolutely ridiculous and short of being barbaric action. All men and women are free to observe and follow tenants of their faith. Asking some of them to hand over some of the holiest relics to authorities is persecution, to say the least and , dictatorial at an extreme end.

When is killing a non-murderer/war criminal, suicide, theft, opression, slave-trading (QUr'an actually free Ethiopian slaves, not encouraging them!), etc become "Islamic"? The source mentioned in the above news, "Radio Free Asia (RFA), which is operated by the US government" ......... well what can be said after reading this source. Please mention any reliable source which may be official from Chinese government.

Skeptical of Quran / Koran turn-in being an authorized policy. I suspect the "announcement" was from someone spoofing or faking authority on WeChat. No Chinese official, even a local official, makes official announcements via WeChat.

"Ratit said announcements are being made by the police via popular social media platform WeChat."

Please provide a screenshot of the Wechat "announcement" so we can examine it.

China is a sovereign country, they can do as they see fit.
This suppression of Islam makes perfect sense; Islam justifies murder and terrorizing those who choose not to submit to it.
A ban of islamic texts and religious articles is not nearly as extreme as murdering people for their choice not to submit to an extremist ideology. I refuse to legitimize Islam as a "religion".
Islam is not native to China, it merely migrated there. China (and any other nation) should be able to deport those that bring that depraved ideology into their nation. Muslims can go back to the birthplace of Islam.
