The Chinese police frequently harass & abuse Tibetans. At checkpoints throughout Tibetan areas, the Chinese police will stop & thoroughly search Tibetans while letting Han Chinese pass by unmolested. Tibetans can be arrested for any number of political reasons & when in detention Tibetan prisoners are frequently tortured. Tibetan political prisoner Tenzin Delek Rimpoche died last year in a Chinese prison due to mistreatment.
