Wangchuk from NYC :

China denies there was ever a declaration of independence by the 13th Dalai Lama. But a copy of that declaration is available online in both Tibetan & English. The facts are clear: from the fall of the Qing Dynasty in 1911-12 to at least 1951, Tibet was an independent state & China had no control over its internal or external affairs. Even during the Manchu Qing dominion, Tibet was never part of China & administered by the Qing separately from China.

Rang from Bangkok :

The title stating as 100 years Celebration of Tibetan Independence from China, is completely wrong. Tibetan never been under Chinese rule. After 1959 since communist Chinese illegally invaded Tibet, Communist Chinese regimes claimed Tibet as part of China. The definition of 13th Dalia Lama's deceleration of Tibet Independent is, to let China, India, Mongolia,Bhutan, Sikkim, Lhadak, Britain and Russia to re-clarify Tibet's Stand and Tibet's Independent. 13th Dalia Lama's declaration of Tibet's Independent is nothing to with Chinese.

duart maclean from montreal :

The Chinese view that Tibetan's claim to original independence is a myth, is China's convenient myth. Eventually, China will have to pull out of Tibet. They have no right to occupy that ancient Buddhist nation. The more hear from communists, the more I detest them.
