This article forgot the most important fact from this large gathering. The monks enthroned a portrait of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. This showed not only direct defiance of Beijing but of the devotion Tibetans have for His Holiness. Since the CCP considers His Holiness to be separatist, these Tibetans risked imprisonment for publicingly venerating the Dalai Lama.
