"Aung San arranged the Panglong Conference in 1947 to grant autonomy to the Shan, Kachin, and Chin ethnic minorities before Myanmar gained its independence from colonial rule by Britain in 1948". No…it was not like that, the real was that Shan, Chin, Kachin ethnic especially Shan were arranged conference and invited to Gen. Aung San in Panglong, Shan State in 1946 and 1947 to discuss about future Federal Union, to live together with equal status that means no majority will bully over another. Ethnic leaders were not demanded for autonomy from Aung San or they did not need to ask for that (autonomy) because they were already own independent Hill States totally different with Proper Burma State at that time according to the British Colonial Frontier Areas rules. Otherwise people might think wrong the birth of Union of Burma because of this sentences..
