Reply to this commentRailway for Laos connecting Thailand to China is an excellent idea but it is very costly. I would suggest go ahead with the Sayaburi dam so it will generate additional income to help pay for the loan.

LPDR continues to ruin Laos through ignorance and greed. This railroad is one of the examples. The concession to lease part of the Northern Lao city, Boten, to the Chinese mafia to build and operate the now closed casino, was another blunder that no one in the LPDR leadership wants to be accountable for. This type of "Lazy development" model a la LPDR leveraging only the natural resources of the country, neglecting the human resources development, will not benefit the 99% of Lao people. They are now becoming slaves of rich foreigners in their own country due to this type of idiotic policy lead by incompetent political leaders who are nothing but thieves.
