Corruption in Laos has been the norm forever long I can remember. I lived in Laos for only twelve years and in that time span I've seen officials from the previous government corrupted, some by using their powerful last names to forcefully taking properties or valuables from regular people, some even sold their powerful last names to the Chinese and the Vietnamese. I lived in the southern part of Laos before I left and so far the same thing is still happening now. So folks, don't expect corruptions by Lao people to end anytime soon, heck even in third world countries Lao people who are working for some agencies still taking advantage of their own people. In other word, corruptions were born alongside us. Sad but true!!!!!

Reply to this commentNot surprisingly, communism is a heaven of corruption. But the question is why Laos people and Vietnamese still like their communist regime?

Reply to this commentEven if the PM will try hard enough to cut off corruption, it would just end up futile and does little if the government is ultra-corrupt and does whatever they please. In the end, it looks like a turning point marking the beginning of the end of the communist regime where they will slowly but surely fail to fullfill "every need" and frankly Marxism is poorly done here. I hope it won't last anymore than 10 years, providing Vietnam will end the same way since its their best friend.

The only way that corruption will stop is when Laos PM started to do like Chinese style of anti corruption which means send those corruption officials to dead or jail for life. That's how they do in China.
