Smart people would seek for arguments from both sides before making any comment. Having listened to the RA news I can say that Sanum investments Ltd has cheated and failed to pay the tax in proper amount to the host Country where it operates business. According to the audit and tax law Lao government has a right to seize and liquidate the assets of Sanam within 30 days to get paid for tax.

The BEST Advise to everyone is to STAY CLEAR and OUT of such a corrupted coutry as LAOS. The only thing they believe in & trust is the GUN. Kill today and benefit today. Nothing is invested for tomorrow. Only when all of the current Laotions, living in this so called LAOS, die will there be any peace. The Chinese will slowly change it by integrating their numbers down and, slowly, they will use force to change Laos into one of their Southern Provinces. Best of Luck to the Laotions. They only way out of this is to be inclusived currently, welcome back expatriots and respect the rule of Law, and ally with the United States, such as Vietnam did. But what do you expect when you have IDIOTS run the government [...]

Good Luck from Heaven :

Good Luck to Sanum Investment, Ltd. The World Bank may ordered Lao PDR to pay for it but where is the money. Yes, China and Vietnam continues to buy and rent lands in Laos. Soon they will face the same problem Sanum did. The Citizen of Laos will fight the foreigners who come and occupy their neighbors. It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when. Who won, the Lao PDR who received the money. Average Lao Citizen is very mad and will reveng.

Laos has been run by foreigners. First by the French, the US, The vietnamese, now China, and soon others. Every currency can be used in Laos. That is how the Laotian People run their country.

Peter Xiong from Mpls, MN :

A signed contracdt with the Lao PDR means nothing. Lao PDR broke all the rules they created. The Vientiane Agreement, 18 points was a good example. In December 29, 2005, 25 Hmong Children were returned to Laos from Thailand. Only 5 found alive. This is not the end, it's the start for Sanum Investment, Ltd. There is more to come. The best way to deal with the Lao PDR is with weapons.

Many Chinese companies violated the Laos PDR laws and also destroy environment. Some company using people to grow them corn and promise to buy from them in a good price but chinese company buy from them in a lowing price whice anger the government and lao farmers too. Chinese pollute the water and the river by release the radiation and mercury from the rare earth mine. Laos government sick of chinese more and more.

Expat from somewhere in US :

The plaintiff is right, GREED was the reason leading to problems. Both side at first had thoughts that one was out smart the other and at the end the business practices and the law of the land clashed. I says, both parties did not fulfill the contractual agreements. I am glad that this has become public and hope the outcome will result in positive reform. The Laotian whose live at these development zone loosing everything the minute the contract signed.

It seems that this lawsuit has little chance of being success against Lao’s government, but who know. Chinese investors might wish to sue under Lao law. But Miss He points out that China had ordered Laos to close the casino. “Little brother cannot fight with big brother,” she says. With this order, it wasn’t sure that all Chinese owns Casino in Laos or just one in Boten Northern Laos.

The thing is the sanum does not hire laotian for employment but bring in there own people to live and work in Laos, and uses chinese currency instead of Laos, instead of creating jobs for local people by bringing slots machine its just makes it worse for a country to grow.

Recently reported has indicated that many foreigners who came to gambling in the Casino in Boten Northern Lao were in/out freely without proper document. In this Casino there were few Laotian employees working there. Most of the employees there were Chinese. The reported also indicated that the area seemed to be real Chinese city with real Chinese signs everywhere. This city also seemed to be far more better than Vientiane.
