Reply to this commentPETA needs to get involve here. I think they will use those elephants for profit only and train them harshly to entertain tourists only. They are not sanctuary. Lao villagers need to rise up more and refuse to sell or move.

Reply to this commentThere are a number of sanctuaries and an Elephant Conservation Centre already operating in Laos and are run ethically. This proposed monstrosity is clearly going to be a Chinese tourist trap and will have nothing to do with actual conservation. Once again Laos has shown itself to be prostrating itself in front of its Chinese masters in the name short term profits

The only conservation they have in mind is how to conserve the steady flow of bribery money coming into their deep pockets. It is a shame, but a fact of life here.
