One hectare = 2.5 acres therefore $615/ hectare is even more of a pittance than you describe .. shame on the corrupt authorities for such poor compensation.

Reply to this commentThat's too bad for the Lao civilians losing their land. There's nothing they can do. If the communist Lao government wants to take their land and personal properties, there is absolutely nothing they can do about it. They can only give it up and leave without causing more trouble for themselves. Perhaps, one of these days the people will rise up and overthrow the greedy communist. But, I wouldn't hold my breath because the civilians are very frightened about the thought of revolution.

Laos people must unite to push the vietnamese out. Just like in Cambodia, the Laos Gov is controlled by Vietnam since 1970.
