If the authority can't detect or control the use of chemical and if the owner didn't adhered to rules and regulations for environmentally sounds farming than why not shut the farm down or destroy the crops. I'm NOT advocate violence or unlawful destruction but they have to enforced the law like they did to the people who disagreed with the government.

Reply to this commentLao people must know that they now live in Sino-Vietnamese province- for at least 200 years and probably forever - and there's no way out. They learned Vietnamese before now they can start to learn Chinese as well. Thanks to Lao party-state.

Most Chinese growers use overt amounts of dangerous pesticides and herbicides in the cultivation of bananas. This is not only in Laos, but also in Thailand, and even in Yunnan province of China itself. This overt use has caused dangerous levels of pollution to ground water sources and wells. It is time for action not words.
