Foreign Secretary P. Hammond's remarks are reasonable and in line with common sense and modern-day democratic values. What Hong Kong's Legco rightly defeated was a political "reform" plan hatched in Beijing to give party bosses there the authority to choose Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum, both party sycophants, as the nominees for Hong Kong's top executive position. Hong Kong voters would then be "free" to vote for either Tweedle-Dee or Tweedle-Dum.
