Wangchuk from NY :

This proves that the CCP considers itself above the law & PRC Constitution. The PLA already swears loyalty to the CCP, not to China. Now Xi wants the Chinese police to defend the CCP, not the public, the law or the Constitution. It's what happens when a country is ruled by a one-party dictatorship.

Whenever a Party-run meeting takes place in Beijing, such as the annual rubber-stamp legislative meetings, thousands of regime police throng the area around Tiananmen Square and nearby streets, as if guarding against a huge enemy in the vicinity. So this is a change only in the shrillness of the rhetoric--"be vigilant against enemies within!" Same old paranoid waste of money.

This is NOT about the people, the Communist don't care about the people. It's about power and control, period.
