In terms of human rights and civil society in the PRC, Xi Jinping's "dream" has so far been a nightmare, with a deterioration in rule of law and tolerance for peaceful dissent worse in 2013 than in any year since at least 2008 and possibly even the late 1990s.

Reply to this commentIt is well known that human right violations are severe in Laos. Hmong had been killed by the thousands during the past forty years, and now, the Xieng Khouang general public is under serious government watch due to their reactions of three Hmong prisoners' severe illness in jail. Hmong are aware of the world's double standards, but even so, the international community has to do more than just talking about the violations.
