I respect Jiang Tianyong and his argument, but Bo Xilai is an authoritarian who has repeatedly trampled on the basic human rights of innocent and law-abiding people such as journalists--and thus does not deserve to be a cause celebre. The Party's shuanggui or double custody and investigation is extralegal, to be sure, but Bo Xilai himself approves of such illegal methods of the Party (as long as not used against himself or his relatives and cronies). It makes more sense to speak out in favor of a human rights defender such as Chen Guangcheng and his family members, who have long been persecuted severely by the one-party regime.
