Gierach James E. from Chicago :

As a former prosecutor, I know that drug prohibition makes drugs very valuable (as this story documents) having no relationship to intrinsic value. Prohibition policy increases drug production, smuggling and lawlessness by smugglers and drug police. Large drug seizures such as this evidence the failure of drug prohibition policies from the Philippines to Vienna (UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs), from Russia and Japan to the US. If governments desire to control dangerous drugs, drugs must be legalized, diminishing drug value and discouraging drug entrepreneurs who benefit by drug prohibition.
