Brave woman! Americans should rally to support and defend our liberty and that of our guests -- for our freedom has inspired courageous dissidents around the world like the artist.

Reply to this commentConsider the following, as reported by Breitbart's John Hayward:
[Quoting] It should be noted that Weng’s picture of Xi and Mao only captures the tiniest fraction of the mountain of skulls they would be standing upon. Mao killed 65 million Chinese by the time he was done. To give a real sense of how high that pile of skulls would be, Weng would have to create a painting so large that it could only be displayed by hanging it from one of the tallest buildings in North Carolina. [End quote]

Reply to this commentUnacceptable that any piece be even slightly touched by censorship in America.
-But is this America any more?

Reply to this commentI must say that I'm disappointed in this decision as well. There's nothing inaccurate about them, nor are they political except for having the likeness of a politician. These are interpretations of the artists feelings. Shame on them for removing this.

Reply to this commentI can imagine those in charge have an appreciation for Socialist ideals of the Chinese Communist party. Artistic culture has always aligned with Communist ideals. They seem to be willfully ignorant of the brutality of the Chinese Communist party. Also ignorant of how much Capitalism the Chinese dictators have embraced.

Reply to this commentChina uses it’s financial resources to influence public opinion all over the world, it is sad that they can buy liberal politicians in the USA in North Carolina. All communists have the same ultimate goal, whether in Cary or Hong Kong; complete control of the people by communist elites.

Reply to this commentpathetic. Surely a Trump trashing piece not only be shown, but considered "brave". The cowardice of this move is beyond words, luckily the artist is getting more publicity now.

Reply to this commentI worked to bring China pride in its accomplishments as a fair player in the global community. We engaged and started to advance in fair ways until greed and theft took over. This breaks my heart and was not my vision of a proud, fair, and noble China. The paintings are a fair depiction of how many inside and outside of China view us! Now, we have lost all respect! We allowed unethical human gene modification and now try to put all blame on one! We built our flagship company from outright theft! All innovation we do now in Huawei is tainted. We are better than that! China! Stop embarrasing me!! Play fair! Open up! Earn some global respect based on our own accomplishments.

Reply to this commentChina has added over 100 camps to their gulag and expanded existing camps. Over one million were added to the camps population. More to follow.

Reply to this commentDamn shame. America used to mean something. Petty bureaucrats go along to get along, but in the end they participate in the oppression of millions. Think it can't happen here? Then put the paintings back up and prove it.

Reply to this commentChina and Russia are both vying for position on who will take control of America and it's people once the left has rendered the US completely destroyed, then all bets are off, we could then become the next Chinese or Russian controlled nation. The left would love it.

Reply to this commentTerrible such oppression of 1st Amendment Rights exist in the 21st century. I expect this type of behavior from dictators, monarchs and communists. Not in the Republic of the United States of America. Shame on the oppressors. You have no Honor or Dignity.

Reply to this commentTown of Cary loves government power, so they would be the last city to allow paintings depicting statists as bad guys. The logo of the city's City Transit is an intersecting C and T, looks exactly like a hammer and sickle. As you drive into town from I-40, a big statue of two intersecting C's also looks like an homage to the hammer and sickle. They love appearance codes, and sued the the only black restaurant out of existence. CARY stands for the Collectivist Aryan Relocation Yard.

Reply to this commentNo, paintings of "important" people should not be taken down out of respect or anything else.
Sorry comrade, that is not how free societies roll.
The gallery that took these down should be boycotted by anyone that values freedom of expression.
And every time some Foreign Country funded entity protests, it should be shut down and everyone not a citizen deported.
Shame on however it was that pulled these paintings

Reply to this commentCary is surrounded by 3 universities (UNC, Duke and NC State) and is a reflection of the PC culture/Marxist promotion that exists in most American Colleges. It's no surprise that freedom of expression is curtailed in that town.

Reply to this commentYou sound like a drone in a Borg colony where individual thought is suppressed within the hivemind.
Non drones are people who are fully alive and can think for themselves and have a deep respect for the liberty of all people to freely express themselves without fear of retaliation.
Authoritarian government's like in China (and elsewhere) and its dictators wherever they are must be dismantled and destroyed and buried on the ash heap of history!
Censoring this artist's work has only made that work more visable and now is known by many more people and it will spread it even further.
Liberty is the real deal. And that is what you should respect!

Cary, North Carolina...surely is some Chinese living there, as mentioned in the article, the Chinese are everywhere and sadly so then comes their government through x or y Chinese association, but what percentage of Cary's population is Chinese? It is alarming that these 3 insightful and thoughtful pieces would be deemed 'politically alarmist' by a gallery anywhere in a western country much less in one that purports to defend freedom of expression and one that in particular holds no love for the politics of China's totalitarian government - I share the artist's sense of dismay.

Maybe if you read a little about China's "re-education" camps for hundreds of thousands of Muslims, you would have slightly less "respects" for China's communist, iron-fist President.
If you want your 1st Amendment rights upheld, stand up for someone else's.
