Like Huang Qi, I agree that the sentencing of that official-led kidnapping ring of oppressors of petitioners is step in the right direction, however modest. What is important down the road is whether there will be many other similar prosecutions and convictions of these kidnapping rings, and whether the local Party officials who give these kidnappers their marching orders will also be held accountable and given jail time if found guilty.
