Five years from now Hong Kong will look and feel like mainland China, and Hong Kong people will look back and say, "how the hell did we get here?" No protests allowed, no criticism of the Communist Party and activists are thrown in jail just like Mainland.

Slowly but surely the Chinese Communist Party is erasing the freedom/autonomy that it promised Hong Kong. Free speech is a right of all Hong Kong residents. The govt can't ban or curb free speech including talk of independence. If the CCP's views & policies on issues are solid then let them be tested by public debate. Only those who fear the truth engage in censorship or place limits on free speech.
