For their own survival, the free peoples of Taiwan and Hong Kong must continue to resist Beijing’s oppression, and they must continue to do so in ever greater numbers - in public, in unison and with all their strength.
When the mass resistance in Hong Kong stops and people disperse to their homes, that is when the authorities will start to come for you stealthily one by one. That is when, as isolated individuals up against the full force of an authoritarian state, you really will, like the proverbial mantis trying to stop the juggernaut, be powerless to resist. That is when what you fear most, and what your present struggle is intended to prevent, will actually come to pass.
Long live the brave people of Hong Kong!

Reply to this commentAfter Hong Kong, the one country, two systems will eventually come knocking at Taiwan's door. No power on Earth can stop the one country, two systems from smashing into Taiwan. Brace yourself for eventual reunification with China, dear Taiwan. Your mama, mainland China will eventually want you to come back to the family fold. The US and Japan are not family. China and Taiwan are blood relatives.

Reply to this commentThe one country, two systems is working beautifully for Hong Kong. Hong Kong people can go out to the streets to protest, something people in the mainland cannot is proof that Hong Kong is as free as can be. Don't believe US and UK propaganda that freedom is being eroded in Hong Kong. When the UK was in charge in Hong Kong for 150 years the governors of Hong Kong was appointed by the British Prime Ministers and thrown to Hong Kong and the people of Hong Kong had no choice but to accept them. Where was the right to choose the governors of Hong Kong when the British were in charge? Not a single governors of Hong Kong were elected by the Hong Kong people. The US and the UK have not earned the right to comment on what is happening in Hong Kong under Chinese rule.

Hongkong people can go out on the street to protest and be shot to death in the end. They can elect the governor hand-picked by red Chinese government. They also have the right to be sent back to mainland China to face commie justice. What a joke !
