Agree with Feng Congde that some of the 1989 demonstration leaders lacked the sort of exit strategy that the Taiwan protesters had. His ex-wife may be a primary example of the sort of student leader who wanted the crisis to escalate, which played into the hands of the most authoritarian, repressive CCP leaders.
