In order to control the people, you have to control the information. That's how all authoritarian & totalitarian regimes operate. The CCP censors the news & Internet in the PRC. It tries to control the information so that the masses don't know what is actually going on & only hear the CCP side. By controlling the information, the CCP can control the masses. There is no genuine freedom of speech or media freedom in the PRC.
