Mass demonstrations may be about the only effective way to thwart CCP schemes to prevent the promises for democratic elections in Hong Kong from being watered down or discarded altogether. Monopolistic Party authoritarians in Beijing will not give up their monopolistic privileges to rule by whim and fiat unless there are many people who arise to challenge them.
