Forced confessions are the primary tool used by the Chinese police to convict politicial dissidents. But if you read these "confessions" you can see that their actions were all legal under both Chinese & int'l laws. Political prisoners only expressed their opinions. That is protected speech under the Chinese Constitution. Speaking the truth or speaking one's mind should not be illegal anywhere, but if the CCP doesn't like your speech or opinions, they can jail you. We really should be denying visas to any Chinese who work for state security, who govern Tibet or Xinjiang, and who are known to be involved in persectuting peaceful dissidents.
