Even if the rumors about sexual abuse in police confinement were to turn out to be untrue, which seems unlikely, what is certain is that Zhao Wei and her lawyer have both been politically persecuted and wrongfully incarcerated by the party and government in one of their myriad witchhunts of the 2010s so far.
