<<<The companies had "seriously violated" internet regulations by carrying large amounts of news content obtained through original reporting, causing "huge negative effects" on society, according to a report carried by a number of official sites, including the Beijing News.

The portals will in future be restricted to carrying syndicated news that has been approved by the government, the reports said.>>>

No no. The "huge negative effects" is on the Communist Party control not society. The society will benefit greatly from serious original news, not Communist propaganda approved news. Think about it, who has the most to gain or to lose?

As the Communist clamps down more and more on whatever freedom left, more and more public money is wasted on this useless endeavor.

Free China from your grips, you can not control people forever as nothing lasts forever.
