Burmese Daze from Yangon :

Former Communist hardliners, like Win Tin, have no love for the soldiers for a good reason. If not for the military, Burma would today be a communist state since independence in 1948. Win Tin is hypocritical: he has no qualms about sharing power in the NLD with former General Tin Oo who's got blood on his hands. Tin Oo was C-in-C in 1974 when troops killed scores of unarmed civilians protesting financial and economic hardships under the Soviet-style *Burmese Way to Tyranny, er, Socialism*.

Landmines in Africa :

Dear Parameswaran Ponnudurai,
Every day, a dozen people are killed or injured by landmines around the world. Your casual use of the word “minefield" is disrespectful of their fate. If you want to learn more about the effect of real landmines, please visit www.the-monitor.org or www.LandminesinAfrica.org.
Sincerely,
Michael P. Moore

Thitsar Oo :

“Some of us would like to push the military into the Bay of Bengal. She only wants to push them into Kandawgyi Lake,” former political prisoner and senior NLD figure Win Tin told the Washington Post this week, referring to a lake in the center of Burma's largest city Rangoon.

Seriously? Pushing the Burmese military into the Bay of Bengal? He and which army?

He is day-dreaming.
