Very good analysis. Thank you. Don't forget that Sihanouk misled the county that led to millions of death and brought up the PM. The Gay King is soft and will never stand a chance with PM. I think that PM will make sure that the monarch is done before his time. Khmer Monarchy has killed many intellectual, nationalistic and innocent people that included PM's parents, Sam Rainsy's father, Sao Ngoy, Preap Inn, Mathura, etc. To have a good democratic in Cambodia, they need to get rid of the monarch and this PM.

Reply to this commentaccording to combodian history that the relationship betwen king sihanouk and PM. hun sen had rocked in the past so my suggestion to that is, the current king sihamoni must have his own Army to protect himself because I believe the PM hun sen also has his own Army to protect himself and no body can remove him from the current job otherwise the king may be removed by force.

Excellent informative analysis - much appreciated. I think international pressure may dissuade Hun Sen from trying to deconstruct the monarchy. He is acutely aware of how his dictatorial policies are seen overseas and I think the existence of a monarchy reduces some pressure at least to some extent. With the reforms in Burma there is a situation where Cambodia is one of the last pure dictatorships in Asia.
