Daphne from Yangon :

When the military ruled, the SIM card costed USD 1500 in Yangon and $ 1800 in other areas, and those were just government sale price, when in black market it was more than USD 2000. The Ministry has been exploiting the people over more than 20 years. I remembered to pay officially USD 1100 to the Ministry to get a line phone in 1991.

And corruption is a wide spread practice in the government organizations. The government employees accept it as one of their duties and the people give the bribe as it is granted to the staff.

Myanmar people have no doubt that President U Thein Sein really wants a change for a better nation. But everybody agrees that people around him do not want to change their luxurious and lucrative positions.

We just hope that President tackles the anti-corruption campaign wisely and effectively .
