Mao Zedong's successors such as the Party Princelings are indeed propping up the tattered myth of a "benevolent despot" in order to monopolize the spoils of the Communist Party's military victory in 1949. Congratulations to Bao Tong for plain speaking on behalf of less authoritarian and more democratic China in the future (and in the present in the case of Taiwan, which proves that ethnic Chinese won't create chaos unless ruled with a heavy hand, as CCP propaganda has long maintained).
