WASHINGTON--RFA Mandarin service reporter Zhang Min has been awarded a 2003 Gracie Allen Award for excellence in broadcasting.
Zhang received the award June 22, 2004, from the American Women in Radio and Television (AWRT). She was recognized for her broadcast on detained Chinese cyberdissident Liu Di.
Zhang was cited for "superior quality in writing, production, and programming," according to the AWRT statement.
"On behalf of the Board of Directors and Foundation Trustees of American Women in Radio and Television, it is our distinct pleasure to congratulate you as a winner of the esteemed Gracie Allen Award for your entry: Special 23rd Birthday Party for Ms. Liu Di, Detained Cyber Writer, submitted by Radio Free Asia Mandarin Service in the National News Feature - Hard News category. In a year with a record-breaking number of entries, your submission displayed superior quality in writing, production and programming."
