Tainted Chinese Milk Powder Spreads Across the Globe
On Sept. 11, the Chinese media reported dairy farmers had begun adding melamine to diluted milk as a way to boost protein count with production costs on the rise.
Since then, dairy products tainted by the toxin have killed four and sickened more than 54,000 infants in China. China-made dairy products have found their way into food items around the world, prompting recalls and import bans in several countries.
